History
This is the biggest database in the world containing information about Leonberger dogs from all over the world on the internet. It has information like name of the dog, the parents, date of birth, etc.

The original database (datacollection started in 1995) is a project of several people; Uwe Hermann, Edith Steffen and I, Arthur Muller. 
I have adapted this database for use on the internet (using PHP and a mySQL database, for those that are interested). Over time more and more information will be added to the database, like information on health.

Healthdata will NOT BE AVAILABLE online as on the one hand not enough people submitting data and the datacollector-team is not interested to create ANY TROUBLE among the people. Healthdata are collected but remain on the PC's of the datacollectors.

Another project is the collection of data of deceased dogs; based on the number of 300 Leos the average lifespan is unfortunately very low (7.5 yrs.). This will not go online either, but is available on request (datacollection based on ACCESS 2.0, Excel-formsheet).

Please see the formsheet "deceased dogs" - we kindly ask everybody to provide us with data on deceased Leos but to avoid problems, this data should be send in by the dog owner(s) only.

The database has basic data of some 60,000 Leonberger dogs all of which is available through the web.
That's of course a lot of dogs, but many Leonbergers are still missing. If you can supply us with data that's missing in the database or would like more information, please contact me (Arthur Muller, arthur@leonbergerdatabase.com).

Accuracy
We have done our best to prevent it, but it's very likely that the database contains mistakes. Feel free to let us know if you find any. No rights may be derived from data found in the database (i.e. use at your own risk).
When you go back in time, the data may be less accurate, because the sources we used are less accurate.
Due to technical reasons, if you submit something it will take some time for the database to be updated. It takes a lot of work to get the database on the internet.

Usage
Type in a part or all of the name of the Leonberger you're looking for.

Example: if you're looking for Mighty of Leonberg, you can type in mighty (upper/lowercase is not important) and click on the Search! button.
Then you'll be presented with a list of dogs that have the word mighty in their name, you can then click on the one you were looking for.

• You can search for kennelnames or other parts of a name. Searching on a part of the name usually gives a better result (because of difference in spelling).
• You can also use the possibility to search on the kennel name, picking the kennel name from the list supplied.
• You can use an underscore ( _ ) instead of special characters, like èêëòä, etc.
• Von / Van de / Vom / van het, etc. are abbreviated to v. / v.d. / v.h. etc.
